Frequently Asked Questions
What style of yoga will I learn?
The various styles of yoga being taught
today are simply variations of traditional Hatha Yoga, which
entails doing body postures. You will learn an assortment of
Hatha Yoga styles, with a primary emphasis on Kripalu and Amrit
Yoga. Both of these styles are comprehensive forms of
traditional yoga, based on the timeless teachings of Yogi Amrit
Desai, an internationally renowned yoga master of India (and
Aileen’s preceptor). Kripalu and Amrit Yoga are taught by many
thousands across the globe. The Kripalu Center for Yoga and
Health in Lenox, Massachusetts, is one of the largest and most
popular yoga centers in the US.
How will Amrit Yoga affect my body?
You will learn how to slowly, methodically stretch tension from your body.
You will become relaxed and limber, through the practice of various strategic movements.
Combined with ancient deep breathing techniques, the body postures will stimulate better
functioning of all of the physical systems. You will learn to honor the wisdom of your
unique bodily feedback throughout the class, and thus, you will have no inclination to
compete with other students
How will Amrit Yoga affect my mind?
The mind is naturally very active. Typically overrun with mental activity,
we are unable to be attuned to the intuitive lessons that mental stillness can
teach us. In our Amrit Yoga classes, you will discover how to let go of mental chatter.
Will Amrit Yoga affect me spiritually?
Once the mind begins to quiet, you will discover a hidden dimension of yourself,
which is an experience beyond words. You will notice a gradual awakening of your own
latent guidance and wisdom. In our Amrit Yoga classes, you will be provided the
opportunity to have a very rare experience. You will have a safe and gradual adventure
into the timeless frontier of uncharted inner territory of the spirit.
What distinguishes Amrit Yoga from other styles?
Many styles of yoga focus primarily on body movements. Amrit Yoga is a methodical
yoga practice, which includes, yet surpasses that focus. Even in the beginner classes,
the emphasis of Amrit Yoga is to experience heightened awareness or higher consciousness,
which is the innate potential of all human beings.
Will Amrit Yoga help to relieve my stress?
Yoga is known as an ancient science, because its effects have been consistently
proven. As you practice Amrit Yoga, you will experience profound stillness and
inner quiet, which goes beyond healing the effects of everyday stress. Amrit Yoga
is a meditation in motion. Be prepared to experience the extraordinary!
